From Cal Cunningham For U.S. Senate:
We Will Not Be Silenced.
Dear Friends,
Together we can show Richard Burr and Karl Rove that no amount of corporate and lobbyist money can silence us.
We're ramping up, building a campaign team, and meeting more and more voters all across the state.
We're listening to the concerns of everyday North Carolinians in this tough economy. And we're offering positive solutions -- real, substantive ideas and policy proposals to create jobs and spur innovation -- starting with the release this past week of my plan to Invest in American Competitiveness Through Education.
But tonight, as we close the books on the month of January -- my first full month in the race -- it's critical to show we're not just winning the ideas race, but the money race as well.
Please contribute $5 -- or whatever you can afford -- before tonight's midnight deadline:
Two recent events underscore the need for your urgent financial support. Without it, our positive ideas, detailed solutions, and powerful message will never reach North Carolina voters.
First, the Supreme Court broke from longstanding precedent and granted corporations the "right" to spend unlimited funds to influence the political process. This disappointing decision paves the way for the corporate interests backing Richard Burr to drown out our voices.
And last week Karl Rove swooped in for a closed-door fundraising event that raised Burr a whopping $425,000. At over $1,500 a plate, the Washington insiders and corporate elites on the guest list know they're getting their money's worth with Richard Burr in the Senate.
But together we can show Richard Burr and Karl Rove that no amount of corporate and lobbyist money can silence us.
Polling shows that Richard Burr continues to be the most vulnerable Republican incumbent Senator in the nation. And we're seizing the moment, with our new "Voices of North Carolina" video series, the right ideas, and the top-notch campaign team we'll need to beat him in November.
Thanks to grassroots supporters like you, we're gaining momentum and building up the kind of robust field campaign that led President Obama to victory here in 2008. But in light of recent events and tonight's deadline, we're counting on your continued financial support to keep us going strong.
Thank you so much for your help -- and stay warm!
Cal Cunningham
Candidate for U.S. Senate
