Cal Cunningham has entered the race!!!

Our wishes have been granted!!! That's right!...Cal Cunningham has entered to U.S. Senate race here in North Carolina!

Dear Friend,

I wanted you to be one of the first to hear: Today I'm announcing my campaign for the United States Senate.

Right now, more than ever, the people of North Carolina need someone to fight -- to create jobs, strengthen our schools, improve veterans health care, and stand up against the Wall Street firms, insurance companies, and special interests gaming the system at the expense of taxpayers and small businesses.

I've got what it takes to stand up for North Carolina. In Iraq, I was proud to be awarded a Bronze Star for my work fighting for my fellow soldiers and against contractor crimes and waste. And I'm ready to fight just as hard in D.C. for North Carolina families.

Watch my announcement video to hear about what I want to do for North Carolina. Then share it with your friends.

Your support and encouragement to enter this race have been humbling. And I take this step with the strong support of family and friends. I know this is going to be a tough race -- but I also know with you and our growing grassroots support, we can win.

Richard Burr has proven he won't fight for us. In the 15 years he's served in the House and Senate, Senator Burr has been unwilling to stand up for our interests -- to make the hard choices and to stand tough for the people of North Carolina. Instead, he's taken campaign money from the big corporate special interests, voting time after time to put their needs ahead of ours.

I want to fight for North Carolina. I'm eager to work hard and to lead -- creating jobs, protecting our state's military communities, strengthening our schools, and lowering health care costs. I'll take the fight to the irresponsible Wall Street firms, the corporate interests, and the culture of recklessness that triggered our economic crisis -- and squandered billions while millions of Americans lost jobs and were pushed out of their homes.

When I think about the struggles our state has already faced, as well as the fights ahead, I remember one of the most important lessons from my paratrooper training: When you fall, you remember the importance of your mission and you get back up, you dust yourself off, and you stand in the open door to jump again. North Carolinians are tough -- we get back up, ready to jump again.

In the coming weeks, I'll share my plans with you, let you know about how you can be involved, and ask for your input, because we are in this fight together. It won't be easy, but together we can do this -- I know we can.

All the way.

Cal Cunningham
Candidate for U.S. Senate
